About African Upliftment
African Upliftment is a non-governmental, non-political organization, that is interested in the welfare and development of the less privileged most Especially the refugees in Africa. We as a foundation came about to fight and uplift Africans drawn from different countries in Africa.Africa upliftment as a group comprises of young men and women of dynamic and talented capabilities in various fields of life. We are determined to impact the less privileged in our midst by uplifting them spiritually, economically, educationally and socially. As it were, the 1990’s have witnessed the emergence of growing conviction That Africa has the potential not only to control its own and deal with its own problems, but has something definitive to offer the rest of the world. However, in some parts, this move is being hailed as the beginning of the new African renaissance. This renaissance that is sweeping across Africa Is what gave birth to African Upliftment, a foundation meant to uphold the right of children, women and youths in Africa, In 2005 a Liberian along with other Nigerians founded African Upliftment. In that same year the refugee camp at Oru, Ogun State in Nigeria served as the foundation upon which a bridge of friend-ship and brotherly love was built, linking all the nationals (Liberians, Sierra-Leone, Sudanese, etc) in the camp together, different sporting competitions were organized both men and women participated and prizes were given to winners.
Also, as an organization geared towards the upliftment and emancipation of Africans, we planned and visited the Oru refugee camp for the second time at the later part of the year; we were able to provide relief materials such as food, clothes, shoes, and educational materials to those residing at the camp.Furthermore, our vision is totally aimed at “bringing togetherness and hope to the less privileged, in the spirit of oneness and humanitarianism, by organizing positive self-enriching, education and cultural experiences that transcends the racial, ethnic and religious divide that exist in Nigeria, Africa and the World”. By 2010, we plan to have hyped a greater percentage of refugee’s including children (orphaned), widows, youth etc. We also envision empowering the youth with self-employment by making them go through training in skill acquisition. Our mission is to provide FOOD, EMPOWERMENT, SALVATION, CLOTHINGS, and HEALTH-CARE.These we have tag the FESCH project.
African Upliftment will also organize and conduct meaningful interactive sessions for the betterment and empowerment, through which our African brothers and sisters will enjoy and identify with the organization. We will effectively identify strategies for addressing the innumerable challenges children, women and the youth contended with i.e hunger, diseases, oppression, lack of education, poverty etc. .
More over, that is why we have always put the Almighty God first in all we do, through the power of God. Africa Upliftment is poise to give our less privileged African brothers and sisters the freedom to choose a better life and to find solution to problems they face on daily basis. African Upliftment cannot carry out this project on it own that is why we are seeking the help of private and public sector in creating possibilities for those affected by the various wars in Africa, which has turned our people to refugees in different parts Of Africa.
